The Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Psychology student to work as a Therapy Assistant at our clinic on a part-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity for students in 3rd or 4th year that are looking for practical experience in the field of disability with the goal of being employed full-time in a graduate position on the completion of your degree.

Responsibilities
- Implement Therapy Plans: Deliver individual or group therapy activities as prescribed by the supervising Speech Pathologist or Occupational Therapist.
- Skill Practice & Generalization: Provide clients with consistent opportunities to practice and reinforce new skills in various settings (clinic, home, school).
- Monitor and Report: Monitor the client's performance and behavior during sessions and accurately report progress and any changes back to the supervising therapist.
- Preparation and Maintenance: Prepare the treatment area and materials (toys, exercises, visual aids) before sessions, and ensure therapy equipment is clean and properly maintained.
- Resource Creation: Assist the therapist by creating, organizing, and assembling custom therapy resources and home program materials.
- Administrative Support: Manage essential clerical tasks, including maintaining accurate session documentation and assisting with appointment scheduling.
- Team Communication: Act as an effective liaison, ensuring information is shared between the client/family and the rest of the therapy team as directed.
Requirements
Applicants considered for the role will be:
A 3rd or 4th year student studying speech pathology, occupational therapy, or psychology.
Able to drive for off-based sessions in close proximity to the clinic
Willing to learn and apply new skills
A strong communicator and organised
Able to adapt to client goalsÂ
Collaborative and values teamwork
Prior experience as a therapy assistant will be highly regarded but is not required for the role.
